I don't compete a whole lot because it takes a lot of time away from customer mounts and that is where my real focus is concentrated. Word of mouth about a timely return on your mount is rewarding enough for me.

However, I have competed a little and the competitions are great places to learn how to become a better taxidermist.

I have competed once at the Kentucky Taxidermy Association Competition and received 2 second place ribbons for a deer mount and a mink mount.

I have also competed twice at the National Wild Turkey Federations Convention in Nashville, TN where I won 2-2nd Place awards 2- 3rd place awards and also won the very prestigious People's Choice Award" for a whitetail deer mount I competed with in 2005.

My philosophy is this, you couldn't care less if I won 7-1st place ribbons at competitions if it takes me a year or even 2 years to get your mount back! 

So go ahead and think back to how long it was before YOUR taxidermist got you back your last mount to you. Was it a year? Was it 2 years? Do you even have it back now?  If you would have had it at Dulen's Taxidermy and it took a year...It would have been FREE, that's my policy.
